Alka Khera, MD

NEUROLOGIST, INVESTIGATOR

  • Meet Dr. Khera!

    Dr. Khera received her MD degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI and completed her neurology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas (UTSW).  She then obtained further training in Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry.  She is now assistant professor at UTSW.  She sees patients at the UTSW memory clinic and is also interested in clinical research, especially in the topic of caregiver burden. 


    Her mother was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2007 so she has seen the devastation that a neurodegenerative condition can wreak on a family.  She has joined Kerwin Medical Center in order to expand her reach in clinical research and, not only find a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD), but also to find more resources for care partners of dementia patients. 


    Outside of work, she likes to spend time with her fiancé and fur baby (dog), Mocha.  She loves trying new restaurants, socializing, making new friends, and listening to music. 

Subhan Tabba, MD, MBA

    Dr. Subhan Tabba is an Academic Hospitalist at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas Hospital and has joined Kerwin Medical Center to further his work in Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) research. His focus is not only on finding a cure for these conditions but also on providing more resources for the care partners of dementia patients.


    Dr. Tabba earned his Medical Doctorate (MD) from The University of Texas Health Science Center at McGovern Medical School and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Houston. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin.


    A first-generation Pakistani-American, Dr. Tabba is deeply committed to advancing public health and healthcare for marginalized communities. His leadership and advocacy have reshaped policies at local, state, and national levels since 2018. His work has earned him several prestigious accolades, including the National Minority Quality Forum’s 40 Under 40, the Mark Feldman Academic Excellence Award, the Texas American College of Physicians Early Career Physician Award, and the University of Houston Alumni Association Early Achievement Award.


    At Kerwin Medical Center, Dr. Tabba continues his mission to drive meaningful progress in dementia research, offering hope to patients and their families. When not working, he enjoys spending time with loved ones, traveling, and playing pickleball.

Irmaris Ríos-Vázquez, PhD

COGNITIVE RESEARCH MANAGER,

NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST

  • Meet Dr. Ríos Vázquez!

    Dr. Ríos-Vázquez is a clinical neuropsychologist with specialized postdoctoral training in cross-cultural neuropsychology, with an emphasis in neurodegenerative disorders. She is bilingual in English and Spanish, and licensed in Texas and Puerto Rico. 


    Dr. Ríos-Vázquez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She completed a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras and a Clinical Psychology Internship at the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, Gotham Health – Roberto Clemente Institute for Family and Community Care. She then relocated to Dallas, Texas to pursue postdoctoral residency training in neuropsychology at both the Institute for Clinical Neurosciences and NeuroHispanos. She is a member of several professional organizations including the National Academy of Neuropsychology and the Hispanic Neuropsychological Society. Dr. Ríos-Vázquez has presented on several topics including women’s health and cultural and methodological considerations in the neuropsychological assessment of minorities. In her clinical practice, she works with older adults experiencing cognitive and emotional changes associated with neurological disease or injury. She is an experienced clinical rater and has worked in several phase 3 clinical trials for Alzheimer’s disease therapeutics. She is passionate about increasing the presence and participation of minorities in clinical research. 


    In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, exercising, spending time with family and friends, and traveling. 

Jim Harris, PhD

NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST

    Dr. Jim Harris earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from Baylor University, with internship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.  He conducts neuropsychological assessments, and has done dementia research seeking to promote effective treatment for Alzheimer’s disease since 2013.  He is published in peer-reviewed journals.  He provided neuropsychological services for Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, and founded the Memory Clinic of Texas specializing in dementia assessment.  He became a member of the National Academy of Neuropsychology in 2003.  He has enjoyed serving as clinical faculty for the UTSW Medical School and Southern Methodist University directing doctoral students in their clinical work. 

Tiffini Hansen

    Tiffini Hansen is a graduate from the University of California Polytechnic in San Luis Obispo, California where she earned a degree in psychology. Tiffini has been a psychometrist for over 10 years, with a focus on geriatrics. Tiffini has been married for 23 years and has two teenage boys who are heavily involved in baseball, so she spends most of her time at baseball fields on the weekend. Being part of a research team with so much heart and soul has been a blessing to her.   

Maddie Liggett, MPH

    Maddie joined KMC in 2023 as Practice Manager, and has transitioned into a Cognitive Rater role. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas A&M and a Master of Public Health specializing in Health Policy and Management from Johns Hopkins. 


    Prior to joining KMC Maddie worked in process improvement and operations in a wide variety of settings, including patient access, a fully remote healthcare startup, and a robotic bariatric surgery clinic. She is excited to combine her passion for efficient and equitable healthcare with her passion for neuroscience and psychology in her role at KMC.


    Outside of the office, Maddie can usually be found crocheting, trying new restaurants, and finding any excuse to take a nap.

Blake Edwards, MPH, CPhT

PHARMACY AND LAB MANAGER

  • Meet Blake!

    Blake Edwards has been with KMC since 2017 with various roles such as a community outreach specialist, study coordinator, and most recently the Pharmacy and Lab Manager. He helps with every study from start to close and is well-versed in all current research. Blake is an alumnus of the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in biology with special interests in organic chemistry and cell biochemistry. Blake also went on to complete his Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Baylor University in 2021. He is a licensed pharmacy technician and is certified in both compounding sterile pharmacy and advanced cardiac life support. During college and prior to joining the KMC team, Blake worked in retail pharmacy where you may have seen him while at CVS or Kroger.


    He enjoys working in research and appreciates how a community of peers unites around the common goal of curing disease. He is a steadfast patient advocate and maintains his focus on the patient and their needs to ensure he delivers the highest standard of care.


    Blake is a native to the Dallas area and enjoys road trips, camping, mountain biking, golfing, soccer, hockey, swimming, running, weightlifting, and pretty much anything active!


Caitlin Keefe, PharmD

RESEARCH PHARMACIST

    In 2021, Caitlin achieved her Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Science from Regis University School of Pharmacy in Denver, CO. She practiced as a Pharmacy Manager specializing in Medication Therapy Management in Ohio and Kentucky before moving to Texas to be closer to family. Caitlin has been passionate about clinical research since working as a research associate in pharmacy school, where she contributed to investigations in immunology and pharmacogenomics. She has been recognized for her leadership acumen by the American Pharmacists Association and the Pharmacy Leadership Society. 


    As a research pharmacist with KMC, Caitlin is excited to utilize her passion for research and patient care to contribute to finding a cure for Alzheimer’s and dementia-related diseases.


    Caitlin is newly married and enjoys exploring everything the Dallas area offers with her husband. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, cooking new recipes, and spending time with her puppy, Willie!


Aaliyah Shuja, CPhT

ASSISTANT PHARMACY MANAGER

    Aaliyah Shuja has been with Kerwin Medical Center since 2024, starting as an Assistant Pharmacy Manager. She has extensive experience in pharmaceutical care, having previously worked as a Lead Pharmacy Technician at ProHealthcare, as well as roles at Children’s Health Hospital, Texas Oncology, Parkland Hospital, and THR Presbyterian Hospital. With years of experience in both hospital and retail pharmacy settings, Aaliyah is well-versed in patient care, medication management, and healthcare operations.


    Aaliyah holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Capella University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling at Texas Wesleyan University. Her academic background in psychology, combined with her expertise in pharmacy, allows her to take a patient-centered approach to healthcare. She is a Certified and Registered Pharmacy Technician, licensed in the State of Texas and at the national level, with certifications in Sterile Pharmaceutical Compounding, Health Informatics & Information Technology, and Basic Life Support (CPR & AED). Her dedication to professional excellence is further reflected in her lifetime membership with PSI CHI: The International Honor Society in Psychology and her distinction as a 4.0 Master’s Graduate Honor Roll Student.


    Aaliyah is passionate about patient advocacy and healthcare accessibility, striving to create a compassionate and supportive environment for patients. She values the intersection of pharmacy, psychology, and counseling in improving overall patient well-being.


    A Dallas native, Aaliyah enjoys road trips, retail therapy, swimming, art, and staying active in any way possible. She believes in lifelong learning and is always seeking new ways to contribute to the evolving field of healthcare.

Jordan Caldwell, CCRC

SITE DIRECTOR

    Jordan Caldwell joined Kerwin Medical Center in August 2021 as a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator. She came to the role with six years of prior clinical research experience investigating new treatments for a multitude of psychological and neurological conditions. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in both Psychology and Biology.


    Jordan has taken her desire to understand how the brain works to help the team at Kerwin Medical Center find new treatments. Her dedication and hard work show in the care and compassion she gives her patients. Through research and community education she believes that Kerwin Medical Center can make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s.


    Jordan is a native Texan from the panhandle. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her husband, traveling, reading, and spoiling her cat.


Jennifer Juarez, CCRC

    Jennifer Panzer Juarez (Jenna) joined Kerwin Medical Center in January 2021 as a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator. With more than15 years of clinical trial experience, Jenna’s background has heavily focused on Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.


    With a deep passion for patient care, Jenna truly believes the heart of clinical research is best advanced through partnership, trust, and mutual respect. By joining Kerwin Medical Center, she has achieved her goal of working in a teamwork environment grounded in an unwavering dedication to fight against Alzheimer’s disease.


    Jenna is a native Texan, and outside of work, you can find her at a high-school football game or co-leading an active girl scout troop. Guided by her family values, Jenna enjoys volunteering, cooking, traveling and spending time with her husband and their three children.

    I genuinely enjoy being part of a team that makes a difference in people’s lives. With years of experience working with the older community, I’ve developed a strong passion for providing support and creating meaningful connections. One of my favorite aspects of my role is the opportunity to interact with patients face-to-face, ensuring they feel comfortable and cared for.


    As a natural people person, I thrive on building relationships and making every individual feel heard and valued. Whether I’m assisting patients or collaborating with colleagues, I love fostering a positive, welcoming environment. For me, it’s all about making a real impact and improving the patient experience every step of the way.


Addy Torres

    As a Front Desk Coordinator, Addy feels fortunate to be the first person patients see when they walk through the door, and she genuinely enjoys creating a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. She finds it incredibly rewarding to be able to interact with our patients, offer support, and engage in meaningful conversations. One of the aspects she loves most about her role is knowing that she's part of a larger team that’s committed to making a difference. Working together toward improving the lives of older adults and their families gives her a real sense of purpose and fulfillment. 


    Outside of work, Addy loves spending time with her family and friends—especially her nephews, who never fail to bring joy and laughter into her world. She also enjoys exploring new restaurants, baking sweet treats for her loved ones, and relaxing with some coloring to unwind and tap into her creativity.

Julias Flores, RN, BSN

CLINICAL RESEARCH NURSE

  • Meet Julias!

    Julias is a Registered Nurse and has been providing care in the nursing profession for over 20 years. She began her career in the field starting as a certified nurse aide and quickly advanced her career into the nursing profession. She obtained her Licensed Vocational Nursing certificate from Amarillo College in 2002 and later return back in 2019 and 2020 where she obtained her Associates and Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Collin College, School of Nursing. Her areas of specialty have included care in the hospital setting, in the medical surgical care unit, as well as urgent care setting. In addition, she has provided care as a program director for home health services. 


    Her nursing journey has led her here to Kerwin Medical Center. At Kerwin Medical Center, Julias serves as the Clinical Research Nurse where she helps to oversee patient care, provides patient education and assists with participant recruitment and enrollment for clinical trials. Her passion and focus have always been centered around the patient and their families. She is committed to deepening the connections with her patients/families and to continue to be a valuable resource to them as they travel through their dementia journey.  


    Julias is married with four kids: 2 sons and 2 daughters. She is also a mother to her animals, a yellow-headed Amazon parrot and bearded dragon. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and loves her arts and crafts.


Karen Aleman, CCRC

    Karen is a happy soul with a big personality. She is passionate about patient care and is always eager to work. She has several years of patient care experience as a medical office assistant, phlebotomist, specimen processor, and clinical researcher.  She earned her associate in science degree from Dallas College in 2020 and her Bachelors of Science in Public Health from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2023. 


    Karen is a Latina woman who is bilingual in both English and Spanish and wants to share her research knowledge with minorities and the Spanish community. She has worked in both inpatient and outpatient care settings, providing patients with the best care out there.


    Karen is happily married with a son and the sweetest dog. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching Korean dramas and stand-up comedy, exploring, and trying delicious new foods.

Megha Chadha, MS, CCRC

    Megha joined Kerwin Medical Center in February 2022 as an intern through her Master’s program in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience at the University of Texas-Dallas. Upon her graduation from her Master’s program in 2022, she joined full-time as a Clinical Research Coordinator. She also graduated in 2021 with a B.S. in Neuroscience from the University of Texas-Austin.


    Megha has always had a passion and interest in neuroscience. She has wanted to be a part of finding a cure since her grandfather passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease when she was young. She feels very strongly about helping patients with dementia, especially underrepresented populations. She wants to use her knowledge in neuroscience to help patients understand the science behind Alzheimer’s. 


    Megha grew up in New Jersey and San Antonio, Texas. In her free time, she loves to attend yoga classes, travel, and be outdoors.

Monica Olivarez

    Meet Monica, a passionate and dedicated member of the Kerwin Medical Center team since March 2023. She earned her Associates in Science from Dallas College in 2018 and became a Certified Phlebotomist from the same institution in 2019.


    Having a genuine interest in patient care, Monica's enthusiasm shines through in every aspect of her work. Prior to joining Kerwin Medical Center, she honed her skills as a Phlebotomist at UT Southwestern, gaining valuable experience working with diverse ethnicities in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Known for going above and beyond, Monica consistently ensures exceptional patient care and a comforting experience for those she serves.


    Beyond her professional achievements, Monica's vibrant personality makes her a joy to be around. She is outgoing and cherishes time spent with loved ones, including her family, friends, and adorable fur babies. During her free time, you can find her indulging in her passion for movies and whipping up delicious meals for her family.


    Monica's dedication to patient well-being and her warm, engaging nature make her an invaluable asset to the Kerwin Medical Center team. 

Maddie Euckert

CLINICAL RESEARCH COORDINATOR

    Maddie Euckert joined Kerwin Medical Center in 2025 as a Clinical Research Coordinator. She brings four years of diverse clinical research experience, having worked across a variety of specialties, including neurosurgery, neurology, psychiatry, physical medicine, and pediatric critical care. Maddie’s journey in clinical research began with an internship in the Neurocritical Care Department at UT Southwestern before her final semester at Texas A&M University. After graduating with degrees in Psychology and Neuroscience in December 2021, she returned to the Peter O'Donnell Jr. Brain Institute to continue her work in neurological research.


    Maddie's passion for understanding the brain and helping people led her to explore multiple avenues in research. She spent two years conducting studies in neurosurgical and neurological fields before transitioning to pediatric critical care research at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. After further developing her skill set as a Clinical Research Manager for a startup, Maddie recognized her true calling was working directly with patients, especially within the neurological field. This realization brought her back to her roots in clinical research coordination, where she’s thrilled to be contributing to Kerwin Medical Center’s mission of advancing care in the realm of neurological health.


    A native Texan from Fort Worth, Maddie’s deep sense of empathy and dedication to improving the lives of others fuels her commitment to research. She is particularly excited about contributing to groundbreaking treatments that can make a difference in patients’ lives. Outside of work, Maddie enjoys attending concerts and music festivals, shopping, and indulging in all things beauty. She’s also a beach enthusiast—if there’s sand and water, you can find her there enjoying the tranquility of the shore.
